History and Geography Field trips
Year 1 - Victorian toys day
Year 1 had a visitor who showed them all the different kinds of toys that children played with in Victorian times. They certainly looked very different to the sorts of toys that we have nowadays!

Year 3 - Ely Museum visit
Year 3 spent a day in Ely where they learnt all about the history of Ely cathedral and also found out what it was like to live in the Stone Age and the Bronze Age. They looked at the different tools, jewellery and clothes that people would have used. They even had time to do some brass rubbings.
Year 3 - Waterbeach recycling centre
Year 3 went on a fascinating trip to see what happens to all our rubbish. They learnt about how it is sorted and recycled.

Year 4 - Romans Day
Year 4 spent a day dressing as Romans and performing roman military drills. They looked at Roman art, making their own mosaics and also looked at what the Romans ate, baking their own Roman leaves. They even became budding archaeologists, digging artefacts from the ground.

Year 5 – London trip
Year 5 Spent a great day touring some of the most important landmarks of London. They started at Trafalgar square and then had a quick look at Buckingham Palace, before travelling down Whitehall to see the Horse Guards and 10 Downing Street. They even got the chance to talk to the police officers guarding the Prime Minister’s house. They also took in Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament and saw great views from Westminster Bridge. They wondered at the huge size of the London Eye and had a picnic before visiting the Royal festival Hall and glimpsing the Shard and other London skyscrapers.
Year 5 - West Stow Saxon Village
Year 5 spend an interesting day at West Stow being history investigators. They explored the reconstructed Saxon village and found out all about Saxon artefacts, building techniques and what we can find out about how Anglo-Saxons lived their daily lives 1500 years ago.
