Home Learning

Home learning is set for children from Reception to Year 5.  Children are provided with a book to complete their work in. They are also given line guides and paper clips to help them keep their writing neat.

Children are set a range of different challenges from a variety of different curriculum areas. Home learning themes often link to national or world celebration events. Home learning is not compulsory but it is recommended.

Children are rewarded for the effort they put into their home learning and will receive yellow tokens for their allocated house.

Pupil’s home learning is often displayed and celebrated within the class and sometimes assemblies. Teachers will provide a courtesy mark in the books which will be returned with the next home learning sheet.

Pupils in year six are set home learning in preparation for secondary school. They are guided through and expected to manage weekly tasks in English and maths.

We send home two sets of Home Learning for your child to complete, Topic Home Learning and Curriculum Home Learning.

Topic Home Learning will be for each key stage and based off events happening around the world i.e. seasons, national days, festivals etc.

Curriculum Home Learning will be linked specifically to your child’s year group and will link to their learning in school, in each subject that they will undertake that term. Children can complete this throughout the term and bring it in when they have completed it, they do not have to wait until the due date.

Due dates for both Topic & Curriculum Home Learning are the same and are as per the table below.

We have made sure each child has a home learning book and a line guide.

If you have any questions about home learning, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
