Year 6

Who Loves Chocolate?

Year 6 have kick-started the New Year with a bang after spending the first week back at school tasting a variety of different chocolates sourced from all over the world! Some of the chocolates had hidden ingredients such as: orange, mint, espresso or even chilli!

The children used all of their senses to explore this chocolate, and this helped inspire them to write their own description of chocolates and some of the work was truly wonderful!

After receiving a letter from a new chocolate brand called Cocoa Baines, the children worked incredibly hard to design a brand-new, innovative chocolate bar! They were put into groups and after coming up with an initial product, the children conducted market research with their target audience (Year 4) to see what they thought of their designs.

The Year 4 children proved to be tricky customers! They asked lots of questions and gave the children good feedback about their initial ideas; telling them what they liked but also what they thought could be improved.

Then the children produced a prototype their product and also created their own packaging.

Finally, the children pitched their product to the manager of Cocoa Baines. They were very lucky that he came in to judge their presentations, with the help of a panel of Y4 experts. They produced presentations, talking about the taste, flavours, inspiration, finance, packaging and advertising! All of the children presented really well, and Mr Baines was very impressed with the quality of the work they had produced.

Mr Baines was impressed by the effort and hard work of all of the children, but because of their concept, packaging and flavour he decided to invest in… The Cinebar! Huge congratulations to that team!

World War 2 Poems

As part of the children's understanding of their topic, World War 2, the children created some very emotive poems putting themselves in the shoes of an evacuee.
