Year 1 Music Work
Music from China
As part of our topic work we have learnt all about China. We made our own Chinese dragons and used them to explore music from China. We listened to a selection of music and picked the one that made us picture dancing dragons in our head’s.
Rainy Day Composition
We worked in small groups to make our own rainy day music score. We had to arrange the words so they sounded like a rainy day when we read them out. We began to read our score using different voices and some of us thought of using our bodies to make different sounds. We are going to move on to using instruments to represent the different words in our next lesson.
Composition – Sounds in Space
Year 1 have been practising a whole range of skills this term in music, with a particular focus on the musical term duration, meaning how long or short a sound is. They have created a composition called Sounds in Space, where they have used a range of long and short vocal sounds to recreate the experience of a space journey. They really enjoyed this project and below you can see some examples of their planning:
